This model year solidified Ford’s choice of offering turbocharged V6 engines as the bulk mill for their impressive F-150 pickup. Netting 12,200 lbs. max towing, 470 lb-ft of torque for the best-in-class title from a new twin-turbo V6, we’re proud to say that won’t change for the 2018 pickup (at least, until the turbodiesel launches). Offering new looks, and new tech, and a lot of engine upgrades, there’s plenty to love for any prospective owner.

The seven trims of the 2018 F-150 will now have a unique grille to match, and you can see the differences in the video above. But it’s under the skin where most of the updates will be found. Ford has touched every powertrain but the twin-turbo V6 in some way, including an all-new 3.3-liter V6 base engine. That mill gets 290 horses and 265 lb-ft of torque, and both 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 and 5.0-liter V8 get 400 lb-ft of torque each. But the real money will be the turbodiesel’s power numbers: with a promise for best-in-class towing and gas mileage, this long awaited engine’s specs are still a mystery.
