Earlier today, Ford announced via a press release that last month was the company's best March result in ten years. America's truck leader sold more than 254,700 vehicles, which was an eight percent increase over March of last year. The impressive result spurred Ford to its best first quarter since 2006. Ford totaled 645,626 deliveries throughout the first three months, up nine percent over 2015.

"Customers continue buying high-end SUVs and trucks, helping the Ford brand increase its average transaction prices by more than $1,600 per vehicle in March – nearly double the industry average,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “We have been seeing solid sales momentum in the first quarter across our entire portfolio, with car, SUV and truck sales up across the board."

Ford received a big boost from its SUV division which enjoyed sales in excess of 188,000 for the quarter, a jump of 15 percent over the same time period last year. Ford F-Series also did well, selling 73,884 in march. It was the first time since 2007 that F-Series has broken the 70,000 mark this early in the year.
