While the mantle of "beast mode" is commonly thought of as the territory of performance coups like the Mustang, in recent years it's also been occupied by diminutive hot hatches. Boasting around 290 horsepower (on a good model), they've become quite popular in Europe, and many are U.S. bound.

Of course, we can always count on Ford to blow the competition right out of the water. Meet the 2016 Focus RS, a 345 horsepower hyper hatch equipped with all-wheel-drive, and sporting the brand's new 2.3L EcoBoost mill. Launched last year, it arrives in the spring of next year. First, the Blue Oval opted to show it off at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
